Permanent Displays in Memorial Hall

  1. No permanent display may be placed in Memorial Hall without prior review and written approval of the Legislative Management Committee.

  2. No permanent display may be placed in Memorial Hall unless the following requirements are met:

  3. The display commemorates or has some relationship to the legislative branch of state government, or to a historical phenomenon or event of significance to this state or nation.

  4. The display will not disrupt or interfere with legislative use of Memorial Hall.

  5. The sponsors of the display assume all risks involved in connection with the display.

  6. Statues, busts, or portraits that have been authorized by the Legislative Management Committee are considered "permanent" displays, and the committee shall review all permanent displays annually to determine the need for placement in other suitable locations. All other displays are considered not permanent and may be allowed for periods of 30 days or less.

  7. For purposes of these guidelines "Memorial Hall" means that portion of the main hallway on the first floor of the Capitol from the west wall to the brass columns to the east of the double stairway.

Capitol Complex Displays

Facilities of the Capitol complex are used primarily for the operation and function of state government and have priority for its use. All exhibits or presentations displayed in the Capitol complex must receive approval from Facility Management and meet the following guidelines :

  • Material must be educational in nature and not promote religious, political, or other special interests.

  • Exhibits may be displayed for a maximum of seven days in an approved location.

  • Exhibit must be maintained by sponsoring organization, and the display location restored to original condition.

  • The sponsoring organization assumes full responsibility for the material while it is displayed.
